Broken Arrow Ledger Thursday June 30, 1983:
 
11/8/1946 - 06/25/1983  Former Broken Arrow resident Ben Banfield, 36, of Saline died in a car accident near Spavinaw Saturday afternoon.  He and his family moved to Broken Arrow, OK when he was 5 and he lived here until he was 17.  He was a Broken Arrow High School graduate who played football, basketball and ran track.  He attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years and was a 17 year employee of Southwestern Bell.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ketchum.  He was survived by his wife, Valarie; 4 children, Laura 4, Benjie 3, Amanda 10, David 12, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Banfield of Ketchum, 3 brothers Frank a High School Coach at Bixby, Tony a former Professional Football player for the Houston Oilers and twin brother Bob of Garland, TX.  Services were held Tuesday at 10:00 at United Methodist Church Ketchum under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.  Interment at Ketchum Cemetery.
